WCHA Mid-Week

Gopher hockey fans were treated to a glimse of the future over the weekend. Last weekend included a sweep of Ohio State and a Sunday victory over the U.S. Under-18 team . The Gophers continued their dominance over CCHA teams by (17-1-2 in last 10 games), but it took a stellar third period in nets by freshman Alex Kangas. Kangas made 21 of his 32 saves in the 2-1 Friday victory over the Buckeyes. It was the college debut for the Rochester native.

The most impressive freshman so far this year has been Cade Fairchild, who has a goal and an assist. The freshman defenseman also has a +5 and has only been on the ice for one opponent goal, which came while CC was on the power play.
